I was asked if I would include some work in Hove YMCA's first Open House, displaying art alongside Staff, Young People and other Local Artists.
As part of the Artist's Open House trail, at YMCA, Reed House, Church Road in Brighton (or Hove) raising funds for developing creative activities for disadvantaged youth in the area.
It will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 30th April to 22nd May.

We had a fun job spraying a new front and back sign for The Burger - ready to set up next to
The Warren for Brighton's Fringe Festival, very tasty burgers and fries helped us cope with the physical work! Here's a selection of images showing how they appeared. It's the same design I created previously for the frontage of the van, but without the large serving hatch in the middle.

Another staggered process - this time acrylic on canvas. Not especially pleased with the painting - but it's quite interesting to see it develop.

Searching through my work folders I found this little animation from 2003... it amused me so I thought I'd share it here!

Women are wonderful. Nina Simone is one of many strong women that I find inspiring. This little preliminary drawing with watercolour pencils, brushed and then inked is a practice piece for a painting I'll soon create as a part of a series of portraits, of musicians that have inspired me through my life.

A brief but full four days of art execution and direction with Carl Cashman and Steve Art Schism for the Shangri-La Heaven area and posters made (in the previous weeks) for pasting all over the Hell walls.  Lots of great workers and volunteers making a crazy fantastic space and lovely new billboards going up as I prepared to leave... I look forward to seeing the various documentation.. sad not to be there for longer, but very glad and honoured, as ever,  to be involved. 

An extra special thanks to Digital Midgets for the David Hitler image and Jim Chambers for the previously unused Psychedelic Eavis - a perfect start to the mural.

Some new work on a theme I've occasionally used - "Nature, Nurture"
this time using the "Exist, Endangered, Extinct" as a continuation. 
Drawing a variety of extinct and endangered animals, largely inspired by the photo of the last male northern rhino 
by Brent Stirton - I chose 5 of these sketches to create canvases of mixed medium with -  also using some old fabric with floral patterns as the start of my layered backgrounds. 
I shot the screens from my drawings and printed them onto the canvases, following this with painting on top and printing more layers including a short poem I wrote about the subject... then finishing the image with a final black print of the sketch and stretching them onto pre-made frames. These works will be on show in Bristol this weekend at Twenty:15 - alongside many other interesting and powerful pieces by a variety of artists.

The chance to get tickets for the RAFFLE is gone (apologies to those who have bought tickets, for the delay - notifications to the winners coming soon!) - but some prints are still available at cheap prices for the next week.

I've had much change going on in my life of recent and I've been feeling the inspiration to create growing larger and larger... I'm feeling as though I'm coming into a new phase of my life and am about to start a stream of new found creativity. However, the website needs a huge update and re-wangle, so I'm starting here with that and will continue to add the new pieces as they form. I have also recently been re-united with much of my GCSE and 'A' level Artworks... I will pop them all here when I get the chance to photograph it all, but here's a little taster - me in an Autumnal setting with a Wintery hat painted in oils. I like hats, and the different seasons, and I also find looking back into the past can really help with the present and the future...

Time keeps disappearing - I barely have a moment these days - juggling work, family and smelling good. Oh and reading Game Of Thrones... trying to do all those books before it comes back to the screen. 
Anyway !! This is a very worthwhile cause and I feel honoured to be involved - lots of very special people giving away treats to bid on - only 48 hours left and you can pick up an original of mine in there (shown below)  for, possibly a very reasonable price!

I had a lot of fun spraying up some images, without having much of a clue what I was going to be doing. I felt rather happy with the results too :)

"The Fiendish Stig!"
I've been doing some little cheapo portraits (coming soon) in felt tips at events like Meadowlands Festival, but this one for Stig was done at the studio - so was able to get the watercolours out and offer some extra time for a special price. I'm knocking out a super-quick poster for PlayGroupFestival this week - 
here's a little rough starting point. Lots of changes to make and it's nothing like the final design idea - but I quite like them lined up in a row... more characters and creatures to add... best get on with it!!

Something DID happen this week, alongside sorting this website out, I got the basis of anotherfinemesh.com sorted too. I also had a bit of time to do some drawings for the Bust The Box Tribute album sleeve, here's a little rough sketch of Dennis. It's a strange mixture of sadness and celebration looking at lots of photos of my dead friends and has also led to some pretty crazy dreams! 
I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the artwork looks from other artists, including Dan Drakeford and Dan Johnson... should be a fun job compiling it all!
